A new book called Evelina London Pets will launch on Monday 14th December. The book celebrates the pets that visit Evelina London Children’s Hospital. The book was created by children, parents and staff to raise money for the hospital and in celebration of the launch of Evelina London Pets, Nala, a Pets As Therapy, Golden Retriever will be available for paw signing and photo opportunities at the launch. The Kennel Club Breed Rescue calendar is back this year! Not only does the calendar have 12 heart-warming images of rescue dogs, it also tells each dog’s story. All of the dogs have been helped to find their ‘forever’ homes by Kennel Club Breed Rescue organisations. Ten Border Collies and their owners enjoyed the chance to try out herding on 29th August. The event was hosted by the Border Collie Club of Great Britain (BCCGB), and overseeing the action was successful triallist Nij Vyas, with his dogs Skye and Mist. Scooby, a Terrier cross dog, has found a new home following the death of his owner, who died following drug use and left Scooby in a very distressed state and prone to aggressive behaviour. With this week’s welcome sunshine, the Kennel Club is warning people that they risk killing their dogs if they leave them unattended in a vehicle. Dogs are extremely sensitive to the heat and should never be left in a vehicle alone, even on a fairly warm or cloudy day. Surprisingly, leaving a car window open or supplying water makes little difference and the dog will suffer, as a car can quickly heat up to around 50°C.
