Do You Know A Hero Dog?

Last year's Eukanuba Friends for Life competition winners, the lovely Molly and her owner Lucy Watts

We all know dogs are man’s best friend, and some dogs really do a lot to  earn this nickname.  So far hundreds of inspiring stories about the relationship between dogs and people have been received by the Kennel Club for its annual Eukanuba Friends for Life competition, being held at Crufts in March.

There is only one week left to send nominations to the Kennel Club if you feel that your life, or the life of somebody that you know, has been changed dramatically by your/their dog, whether a companion dog, service dog, assistance dog or an all-round dog hero. The Kennel Club also wants to hear about people who have dramatically turned around the life of man’s best friend.

A panel of judges are going to be choosing five finalists who will go forward to the final at Crufts on 8th March 2015, where the overall winner, selected by public vote, will be announced before the grand finale of the Crufts Best in Show award.  It’s set to be a very exciting moment and there are guaranteed to be a few tears!

Last year the competition was won by Molly whose companionship transformed the life of her owner Lucy Watts, who suffered with a life-limiting rare genetic condition, by giving her confidence and helping to take the focus of other people away from her wheelchair and illness.

The Kennel Club has received so many inspiring stories already about dogs who have completely transformed their owners’ lives through their bravery, support or companionship and about people who have dramatically turned around the life of man’s best friend. If you have a special and inspiring relationship with a dog or a tale of bravery to tell, do come forward for a chance to be recognised in the competition!

People can view the nominations so far and make a nomination themselves on the Crufts website here.
