Scruffts Winner Wylie Launches Book At The Kennel Club
Winner of the Kennel Club’s Scruffts 2014 competition, Wylie, launched a book at the Kennel Club Art Gallery last week (11 September), about his remarkable journey from a life afflicted by cruelty in Afghanistan, to becoming an award winning and much loved dog.
The book, ‘Wylie, the Brave Street Dog Who Never Gave Up’, is written by Pen Farthing, ex-Royal Marine and founder of charity Nowzad, who rescued Wylie from Afghanistan where he was used as a bait dog in dog fights and was beaten, starved, run over and had his ears and tail severed.
On arriving in the UK he was paired with now owner, Sarah Singleton from Yeovil, Somerset, who entered him into the Kennel Club’s Scruffts Family Crossbreed of the Year competition, sponsored by James Wellbeloved, where he made it to the grand final at Crufts 2014. He was crowned as champion by radio DJ Kate Lawler in front of a packed NEC Arena in Birmingham in March.
The book launch at the Kennel Club Art Gallery was attended by representatives from the Kennel Club, Nowzad, the book’s publishers Hodder & Stoughton, and various supporters and individuals referenced in the book.
Wylie’s book by Hodder and Stoughton is available in Hardback and eBook now, priced at £14.99.
