Old English Sheepdog Revival Begins
Old English Sheepdog exhibitors, Janet Steele and Val Leggett arranged a get together for the breed, with the aim of raising the profile of the Old English Sheepdog in the UK.
The event took place at Kingsbury Water Park, near Birmingham, on Saturday 9th August and around 40 owners and 30 dogs attended.
They held a short demonstration on how to groom a pet and everyone had the opportunity to chat and exchange ideas and stories, as well as hints and tips on what leads to use, feeding, training and much more.
It was such a success that the pair have now been asked to make it an annual event and have also been asked to travel to Scotland, East Anglia and the South East to host similar events.
The breed had 461 registrations in 2013 and in previous years was featured on the Kennel Club’s At Watch list. The At Watch list is for those breeds between 301 and 450 annual registrations, to highlight their plight before they get to vulnerable levels.
